Job description
About the role
Roche is looking for a Solution Architect to take ownership of the transversal digital experience across its employee platforms within the RDT Workforce Enablement (WE) team. The role bridges business needs and technical execution, collaborating with experienced engineering teams (Product Owners, system administrators and developers) to turn fragmented portals into a unified ecosystem. It also involves enabling AI solutions in existing systems. The position is based in Madrid.
Key responsibilities
- Design business-driven, standards-based solutions that meet product requirements, business priorities and enterprise standards, listening to end-user needs and considering the user experience.
- Manage non-functional requirements and fitness functions, and document and evolve the architecture throughout the product lifecycle in line with the architecture community.
- Maintain the vision, roadmap and current landscape of the solution, and assess the impacts and dependencies of initiatives on capabilities, risk and the application landscape.
- Create conceptual and logical data models for the solution and its interfaces, and define reference architectures, patterns and Architecture Decision Records.
- Build consensus among stakeholders, share information about the solution, and use user research to reduce digital adoption friction.
- Map employee journeys, define intuitive navigation paths and unify visual and functional experiences into a clean interface.
- Understand how digital platforms connect operationally through basic APIs, data flows and unified portal layouts.
Required profile
- 3 years of experience designing business-driven, standards-based solutions within a specific solution context.
- Experience keeping track of the vision and roadmap of technical solutions and assessing initiative impacts on risk and application landscapes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain difficult or sensitive information and build consensus.
- Proactive approach to improving solutions and managing technical debt.
Required skills
- In-depth knowledge of one or two technology areas.
- Conceptual and logical data modelling, taxonomies and ontologies.
- Reference architectures, patterns, NFRs and fitness functions.
- Vendor assessment and feasibility studies.
- Experience with APIs, data flows and UI frameworks.
- Advanced digital analytics and behavioural tools such as Google Analytics and Nexthink.
