Statistical Programming Associate Director

About the role

AstraZeneca CVRM Biometrics in Barcelona is looking for a Statistical Programming Associate Director. This is a delivery-focused technical leadership role for programming, overseeing deliverables with quality and timeliness while following established standards and processes. It requires deep programming experience and industry knowledge to lead programming activities and guide other programmers. The role is based in Barcelona with an office presence of 3 days per week.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation of statistical programming aspects of protocols or clinical development programmes
• Ensure high quality of project deliverables and hold partners and providers accountable for their quality
• Act as technical subject matter expert for aspects of the trial, project or function
• Lead or contribute to cross-functional administrative or process improvement initiatives
• Drive development of best practices and standards, and escalate risk in complex or novel situations
• Manage external partners such as Contract Research Organisations and ensure compliance with standards and automation usage
• Influence stakeholders through programming expertise and support recruiting, training and mentorship
• Apply project management practices, contribute to capacity management and keep up to date with industry and regulatory requirements

Required profile

• Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Life Sciences or equivalent
• Thorough knowledge of the clinical development process and industry standards (CDISC)
• Ability to solve problems and manage risk in complicated or novel situations
• Ability to influence stakeholders and manage concurrent project activities
• Desirable: broad experience across therapeutic areas and clinical trial phases, and experience in regulatory submissions

Required skills

• Excellent programming skills in SAS (or R) and SAS macros
• Knowledge of technical and regulatory requirements for the role
