Structured Trade Finance Associate

About the role

Join Santander's Structured Trade Finance team in Madrid to design and execute sophisticated financing solutions that support international trade and strategic corporate initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end structuring and legal execution of structured trade transactions, negotiating directly with clients.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders such as Risk, Legal, and Middle Office to ensure seamless deal delivery.
• Conduct thorough due diligence, including financial modeling, asset and reserve analysis, and review of offtake contracts and annual reports.
• Propose enhancements to optimise transaction structures and improve risk‑adjusted returns.
• Drive origination efforts in collaboration with global Structured Trade teams and other business units.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with a proactive approach to risk management.
• Experience or strong interest in trade finance and structured finance solutions.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills for client‑facing interactions.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally across different regions and business lines.
