System Administrator – IT Infrastructure & Security

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled System Administrator to join the Artificial Intelligence in Medicine laboratory at the University of Barcelona. The role focuses on managing and securing the lab’s IT infrastructure, including computational clusters, distributed systems and APIs. You will work closely with development teams to ensure reliable, high‑performance and secure operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and monitor computational clusters and distributed systems.
• Secure the infrastructure against cyber threats and ensure data security.
• Manage APIs and integrate message brokers for reliable data flow.
• Support development teams by providing stable and performant server environments.
• Oversee GPU server management and assist with related troubleshooting.

Required profile

• Proven experience in system administration and cybersecurity.
• Strong knowledge of Python programming for automation and scripting.
• Familiarity with message brokers and data security best practices.
• Ability to work proactively and collaborate with research and development teams.
