System Safety Engineer - Military Aircraft

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a System Safety Engineer to join its Aircraft Development Safety Team in Getafe (Madrid). The team is multicultural and multidisciplinary, giving a 360-degree view of aircraft development, and works closely with Design Offices, Chief Engineering, System Suppliers and Airworthiness Authorities. The role ensures that Airbus military products are designed, developed and certified to the highest safety and airworthiness standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform System Safety Assessment (SSA) activities for military aircraft systems from development through to final certification.
• Identify and classify failure conditions by examining system functions according to their severity.
• Establish System Safety requirements and carry out preliminary evaluations to check that the proposed architecture meets safety objectives.
• Generate technical evidence demonstrating compliance with safety standards before Airworthiness Authorities.
• Conduct safety analyses, including Common-Cause (Particular Risk, Zonal and Common Mode) and Continuous Airworthiness Risk Analyses.
• Manage supplier data and safety requirements at the interface of interacting systems, hardware, software and technical domains.

Required profile

• Aeronautical or industrial engineering degree, or a related discipline.
• Professional experience in Systems Engineering with interfaces to Safety, Airworthiness or Certification.
• Advanced English.
• Teamwork, problem-solving and adaptability to networked work.
• Nice to have: experience with safety tools (e.g. Isograph FaultTree+) and SSA.

Required skills

• Good understanding of aircraft systems.
• Advanced MS Office.
• Systems Engineering and SSA experience (valued).
