Tactical Communications Lab Test Engineer

About the role

Join Airbus Defence and Space's Flight & Integration Test Centre in Getafe, supporting major aircraft and defence programmes such as Eurofighter, A400M and Eurodrone. You will work hands‑on with complex tactical communication systems, analysing data and assessing performance in both virtual and hardware test rigs.

Key responsibilities

• Design and specify rig test cases, procedures and test specifications based on technical documentation.
• Prepare pre‑test data sets, simulation requirements, test scripts and tactical scenarios.
• Execute tests on virtual environments, subsystem rigs and global system integration rigs, and support on‑aircraft ground and flight testing.
• Analyse results, produce comprehensive test reports and manage equipment and system problem reports.
• Maintain lifecycle control tools (DOORS, Octane, FTNet) and specify/customise test tools such as decoders, emulators and automation scripts.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Telecommunications, Radiocommunications, Electronics, Aeronautical Engineering or related field.
• 2‑6 years of system testing experience with tactical/mission communication systems.
• Advanced proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
• Active NATO security clearance or eligibility, and ability to obtain ITAR and national export authorisations.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of tactical datalinks (Link 16/22/VMF, SATCOM, V/UHF radios, comm servers).
• Hands‑on experience with lab equipment and simulators (1553 databus analysers, TIGER, MIGATO, LEGS, AIDASS, LabView).
• Test scripting, requirements interpretation and system behaviour assessment.
• Use of lifecycle tools: DOORS, Octane, FTNet.
