Tax Lead – Caribbean Region

About the role

We are seeking a Tax Lead to head the tax function for the Caribbean region. Reporting to the Regional CFO, you will act as a trusted tax business partner to Country Finance Directors, ensuring compliance with local tax laws, international standards, and Group governance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, develop and manage the regional tax team, setting priorities, performance objectives and development plans.
• Partner with Country Finance Directors and the Regional CFO to translate technical tax matters into commercial recommendations.
• Define and enforce the regional tax operating model, clarifying ownership of tax tasks across jurisdictions.
• Supervise corporate income tax, VAT/GCT, withholding tax, customs duties, stamp duties and other local filings to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Lead negotiations with tax authorities during audits, information requests and disputes, and approve defense strategies.
• Manage tax litigation and administrative appeals, directing external counsel and controlling budgets and deadlines.
• Review tax provisions, contingencies, deferred tax and effective tax rate for statutory and Group reporting.
• Ensure compliance with transfer pricing documentation, CbCR, economic substance and Pillar‑two obligations.
• Analyze significant transactions, intercompany flows, financing structures and new market entries to identify tax exposures and opportunities.
• Maintain a regional tax risk register with quantified exposures and mitigation plans.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading tax functions in a multi‑jurisdictional environment, preferably within retail or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of Caribbean tax legislation, international tax standards and Group governance frameworks.
• Proven ability to influence senior non‑tax executives and act as a strategic advisor.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills.
