Team Lead Engineering - Enterprise Identity Management Reliability

About the role

Roche is looking for a Team Lead Engineering Manager to lead its Enterprise Identity Management Reliability team in Madrid. The team supports a mission-critical SailPoint IIQ platform that underpins the company's Identity Governance strategy, securing access for thousands of users in a global, highly regulated environment. The role leads the shift from reactive support to a proactive, automation-driven SRE model, improving performance, scalability and user experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and grow a high-performing engineering team, fostering ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement, and support career development
• Improve platform reliability, stability and performance in a complex, high-volume environment
• Reduce manual work and introduce automation to improve efficiency and scalability
• Work closely with Product, Security, Infrastructure and business teams to deliver reliable, secure identity services
• Oversee Managed Service Provider (MSP) performance, ensuring SLA adherence and service quality
• Strengthen operations through better monitoring, incident management and continuous optimization

Required profile

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology or a related engineering field
• 5+ years of experience leading or managing engineering or technical teams
• Experience in pharma, biotech or other regulated industries
• Strong understanding of identity lifecycle management (joiner, mover, leaver) and access governance in regulated, large-scale environments
• Ability to manage stakeholders and drive outcomes in a global environment
• Experience with MSPs or system integrators; professional information security certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISM) are a plus

Required skills

• Solid understanding of production systems: monitoring, alerting, incident response and performance tuning
• Tools such as Splunk, Datadog, Grafana or similar observability platforms
• Managing SailPoint IIQ upgrades, patches and regression testing (strong plus)
