Technical Lead

About the role

As a Technical Lead at Santander, you will drive the design and delivery of secure, scalable, and compliant technology solutions within a highly regulated banking environment. You will combine deep Java expertise with strong leadership to guide engineering teams and ensure alignment with enterprise standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define solution architecture that meets Santander’s enterprise standards.
• Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and risk frameworks.
• Establish and enforce coding standards and best practices.
• Lead design reviews and make critical technical decisions.
• Manage and reduce technical debt in line with long‑term strategy.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Architecture, Risk, and Security teams.
• Promote a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 6–10+ years of experience in backend development.
• Preferably a university degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong focus on security, compliance, and risk management.
• Experience aligning solutions with enterprise architecture and governance.
• Proven ability to work across large, distributed teams.
