Technical Manager for R&T - Technological Projects

About the role

Airbus Helicopters Spain is looking for a Technical Manager for R&T - Technological Projects within its Chief Engineering organization at the Getafe site. The role provides overall technical leadership for engineering and technological projects, from concept to delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall technical leadership and direction for assigned engineering and technological projects.
• Capture, analyze and manage customer and program requirements to support the Concept of Operations (ConOps) and product specifications.
• Select, propose and approve key technologies, run trade studies and concurrent development options to meet maturity milestones.
• Define and maintain the technical Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), development schedules and technical risk management plans.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering teams, Centers of Competence (CoCs) and external consortia or industrial partners across all project phases.
• Monitor technical progress, resolve issues promptly and manage project maturity gates (e.g. TRL/RL reviews), risks, opportunities and escalations.
• Act as the central engineering point of contact for PMO, Finance, Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, Services and for customers, suppliers and sub-contractors.
• Support approval and monitoring of engineering resource budgets and verify resource availability with lead functional managers and financial controllers.
• Lead engineering proposals, including Technical Statements of Work (SoW) and effort estimations.
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering efficiency through agile practices, governance routines and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Masters degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
• Ability to resolve issues and manage interfaces between functional groups.
• Ability to manage and coordinate internal people and external subcontracting companies.
• Good communication skills, collaboration, proactivity and a team spirit.
• Spanish and English.
