VP of Portfolio Management – TMT, Spain & Portugal

About the role

ING is looking for a VP of Portfolio Management to join its Wholesale Banking Lending Team in Madrid. You will actively manage the TMT lending portfolio of Spain and Portugal, optimising returns through strong analytics and capital velocity. The team works with colleagues from Transaction Management, Capital Markets & Advisory, Risk, Global Credit Restructuring and Legal, and collaborates with back-office support teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the files in your dedicated portfolio: quarterly and annual credit reviews, risk rating updates and credit monitoring of financial covenants and operating performance
• Handle amendment and waiver requests, coordinate credit approvals, run financial analysis, cash-flow modelling and sensitivity analysis, and follow up on legal amendments until execution
• Identify early warning signals, unlikely-to-pay assessments, forbearance and default situations, and assess deals on product-related topics
• Monitor market developments, prepare regulator and internal reports, quarterly CRM portfolio reviews and departmental trackers
• Manage lending limits and capital velocity programs, and respond to ad hoc requests on portfolio composition and exposure
• Take part in virtual client teams, helping relationship managers and sector specialists on credit trends and cross-buy opportunities
• Build a culture of operational excellence, coach junior colleagues, support transformation projects and improve data quality monitoring

Required profile

• University degree in business, economics or a relevant discipline with above-average grades; CFA and/or MBA is a plus
• 7+ years of credit analysis experience in banking, preferably with TMT clients
• Fluent Spanish and English, spoken and written
• Collaborative, detail-oriented, able to work in a fast-paced, deal-oriented environment
