War Reserve Material Corrosion Control Specialist / Welder (AGE)

About the role

KBR supports the operational needs of U.S. armed forces at Morón Air Base in Spain and several bases in Turkey under the UABOS contract. As a War Reserve Material (WRM) Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) Corrosion Control Specialist / Welder, you will treat, prevent and repair corrosion on AGE and munitions material handling equipment, and act as the department's primary fabricator and welder. This is a highly specialized expatriate role based in southern Spain.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect AGE, MMHE and related equipment for corrosion, structural damage and paint degradation.
• Prepare surfaces by masking, chemical stripping, sanding and abrasive blasting, then apply conversion coatings, primers and topcoats (polyurethanes, epoxies) with HVLP spray systems.
• Design, fabricate and apply stencils, decals and safety markings to military specifications.
• Repair and fabricate metal components using structural steel, aluminum and other alloys, and operate TIG, MIG, arc and oxyacetylene welding and cutting equipment.
• Read technical drawings and military technical orders to repair hitches, panels, frames and tow bars.
• Handle hazardous materials safely, maintain the paint booth and welding shop, and document work in ELMS and IMDS.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 4 years of combined experience in corrosion control/industrial painting and structural welding/fabrication, preferably on aircraft, ground support or heavy commercial equipment.
• Valid driver's license and U.S. citizenship.
• Ability to obtain and hold an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
• Preferred: prior USAF AFSC 2A7X1 or 2A7X3 experience, or equivalent civilian MRO experience; heavy equipment operator certification (forklifts up to 10,000 lbs); AWS welding certifications; HAZMAT, respirator fit-testing and paint booth training; IMDS/ELMS documentation experience.
