Wind Turbine Controls Engineer

About the role

Gevernova is looking for a Wind Turbine Controls Engineer in Barcelona. The role designs, develops and supports the validation of control algorithms so that the functions of various wind turbine components are met. It works closely with development, platform and validation teams and with system owners, following the standard controls release process and project milestones.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and study techniques to develop control algorithms against specifications and align them with the system owners' release process, working with internal and external stakeholders.
• Refine and align requirements with controls standards, and follow the controls development workflow across the full feature life cycle.
• Drive improvements in processes and tools to support efficient requirement, development and validation workflows.
• Design, analyse or evaluate assigned activities using sound systems engineering methodology and adhere to business standards and product requirements.
• Collaborate with owners to meet their needs through the standard controls release process, with autonomy within a defined framework.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Control Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in the controls domain, including design and/or modelling of control systems.
• Experience developing, implementing and validating new control algorithms, and knowledge of controls-related sensors and actuators.
• Good understanding of business drivers and how the team fits into the wider organization; ability to resolve issues with technical judgment and consult senior colleagues on matters outside defined parameters.

Required skills

• Software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) techniques.
• Matlab / Simulink for designing and validating control systems.
• GE Mark VIe or similar PLCs.
• Agile and Scrum familiarity.
• Strong oral and written communication and documentation skills.
