AWS DevOps Engineer

About the role

Our client is looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join the DataHub team in Barcelona. The role focuses on building and maintaining AWS‑based infrastructure, automating deployments with Terraform and GitLab, and ensuring security and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines in GitLab.
• Implement and maintain security policies and compliance across cloud environments.
• Collaborate with product owners and developers to deliver reliable data streaming, event governance, and pipeline solutions.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise existing systems for performance and reliability.
• Apply FinOps principles to manage and reduce cloud infrastructure costs.
• Support and mentor teams in adopting AWS tools and best practices.

Required profile

• Quality‑conscious and pragmatic approach to coding and infrastructure design.
• Proactive mindset with a willingness to propose improvements.
• Ability to guide and assist teams in deploying AWS services effectively.

Required skills

• 4+ years of hands‑on experience with AWS (Kinesis, EC2, IAM, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda, ECS).
• Strong expertise in Terraform and GitLab for IaC and CI/CD.
• Solid understanding of cloud security policies and practices.
• Proficiency in Python programming.
• Advanced Git source‑control skills.
• Experience with FinOps cost‑optimization strategies.
• Familiarity with Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring (preferred).
