Lead Airframe Design Engineer – Helicopter Structures

About the role

Airbus Helicopters España is seeking a Lead Airframe Design Engineer to drive the design of helicopter structural components and assemblies. You will work within the EBSTIF team, contributing to all product phases from concept to in‑service support, ensuring safety, performance and cost‑effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Design composite and metallic helicopter structure components and assemblies, optimizing weight, cost, performance and manufacturability.
• Verify detailed designs against validated requirements for subsystems, equipment and modules.
• Develop modifications and retrofits within defined timescales as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Adapt design solutions quickly to real helicopter configurations.
• Support production activities, including non‑conformity assessment and generation of manufacturing documentation.
• Provide technical support for testing, certification evidence and customer service.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in composite and metallic helicopter structure design.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a proactive improvement mindset.
• Advanced English; French is valuable.

Required skills

• Composite and metallic helicopter structure design.
• CATIA V5 (mandatory) and CATIA V4 (desirable).
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Configuration management (VPM) and change management (ECR/ECP).
• Knowledge of Airbus Helicopters manufacturing processes.
• Composite repair design (desirable).
