Microwave Instruments Study Project Manager

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is seeking a Study Project Manager to lead the study team for active and passive microwave instruments supporting future Earth Observation missions. The role is based in Getafe, Madrid and involves coordinating technical, programmatic and financial aspects of the studies.

Key responsibilities

• Meet technical, programmatic and financial objectives of ongoing microwave instrument studies.
• Define study objectives, implementation strategy and milestone schedule.
• Identify suppliers and support pre‑development activities with Procurement.
• Coordinate industrialisation efforts with the industrial manager and system engineer.
• Manage team dynamics, assign deliverables and ensure clear communication.
• Perform project management tasks: scheduling, risk assessment, steering meetings, budget and cost control.
• Lead design‑to‑cost activities and steer cost‑estimate processes with Cost Engineers.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary study teams in aerospace or Earth Observation projects.
• Strong understanding of microwave instrument technologies and space mission implementation.
• Ability to work with procurement, industrialisation and cost engineering functions.
• Excellent communication skills to align stakeholders across Future Programs, Marketing and Sales.

• Microwave instrument design (passive radiometers, SAR, altimeters, scatterometers, reflectometry).
