Senior Software Engineer - Backend Major

About the role

Back Market is a global marketplace for refurbished devices and is looking for a Senior Software Engineer in its Code Foundations team in Barcelona. The team builds foundational tools, libraries and standards that improve developer productivity and consistency, and the engineer works closely with the squad and the group's Staff engineer through bi-monthly rituals.

The company is moving from a monolithic architecture to a distributed, service-oriented architecture, so the role involves building efficient, loosely coupled services and contributing to a scalable, secure platform.

Required profile

• 3+ years of backend development experience
• Strong system design skills and experience with microservices and distributed systems
• Deep understanding of data architecture and APIs
• Experience with performance optimization and scalability
• For experienced engineers: solid experience with modern JavaScript frameworks, ability to build frontend features, and understanding of state management, routing and API integration
• Full-stack mindset, end-to-end product thinking and curiosity about the full stack
• Strong collaboration, communication and adaptability to ambiguity
• Fluent English, as the team is international (US, FR, ES, JP)

Required skills

• Backend: Python, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Celery, Golang, Django (being phased out)
• Frontend: VueJS, TypeScript, Nuxt, Revolve (design system)
• Data: PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, BigQuery
• Infrastructure: GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, Datadog, ArgoCD, CircleCI, GitHub
