Space Systems Functional Avionics Engineer

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe (Madrid) is looking for a Space Systems Functional Avionics Engineer to join a trans‑national AOCS/GNC team. The role focuses on designing, implementing, verifying and validating attitude and orbital control system algorithms for current and future space missions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, verify and validate AOCS/GNC solutions for mission phases 0 to E.
• Produce technical documentation such as design justifications, software requirements and performance analyses.
• Develop prototype software, primarily using Matlab/Simulink, and occasionally in C or Python.
• Support reviews, workshops and interactions with customers, partners and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent in an aerospace discipline.
• 3‑4 years of experience in AOCS/GNC or related fields.
• Strong background in dynamics, filtering, estimation and control engineering.
• Experience participating in GNC/AOCS project development and validation cycles.
• Proficiency with Matlab and Simulink.
• Knowledge or research experience in CMG management.
