Structural Design Engineer

About the role

An opportunity has arisen for a Structural Design Engineer to join Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe, Madrid. You will work within the Aerostructures Design team, applying advanced composite technologies and 3D modeling (3DExperience) in an Agile environment to support major airframe programs.

Key responsibilities

• Design and validate composite and hybrid airframe structures, optimizing weight, cost, performance and safety.
• Develop structural architectures and produce complete mechanical assembly documentation for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Stress, Materials and Services teams to resolve production and in‑service issues.
• Participate in technical design reviews, test reporting and project follow‑up with external partners and stakeholders.
• Prepare technical documentation and structural definitions to support civil and military aircraft certification.

Required profile

• Degree in Aeronautical, Industrial (Mechanics) Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in aircraft structural design.
• Negotiation level proficiency in English and Spanish.
• Proactive problem‑solver with strong communication skills.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of composite structures.
• Proficiency with CATIA.
• Experience using PDM/PLM tools and configuration management.
• Familiarity with 3DExperience modeling environment.
