Senior II Security Engineer - Platform

About the role

Preply’s Security team is looking for a Senior II Security Engineer to own platform security across AWS, Kubernetes and GCP. You will drive detection, alerting and incident‑response readiness while partnering with SRE, Data, Engineering and GRC teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end platform security initiatives, from problem definition through rollout and iteration.
• Design, implement and operate security controls for cloud environments (AWS, GCP) and Kubernetes clusters.
• Evolve monitoring from a basic SIEM to an actionable detection and response capability using Datadog.
• Build and tune detections, reduce noise, and establish repeatable triage workflows and escalation paths.
• Create investigation playbooks and runbooks, and participate in on‑call rotations.
• Improve secrets management, identity and access security, and auditability of internal infrastructure.

Required profile

• Strong experience securing cloud and platform environments, especially AWS and Kubernetes, with ability to extend to GCP.
• Hands‑on delivery of technical security initiatives in production, including CI/CD and infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Proven ability to improve identity and access security, particularly with Okta.
• Experience building or maturing security operations, turning SIEM data into reliable operational outcomes.
• Comfort working in cross‑functional teams and participating in on‑call rotations.
