Staff Software Engineer

About the role

Seqera is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join the Unified Compute team, taking technical ownership of low‑level systems that run scientific workloads in the cloud.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and own low‑level systems across Fusion, Fusion Snapshots, Ignite and Sched.
• Write reliable, well‑tested code primarily in Go and C, using Rust and JVM languages where needed.
• Work close to the OS: FUSE filesystems, Linux namespaces, CRIU checkpoint/restore, process supervision and static musl builds.
• Handle multi‑cloud orchestration, provider abstractions (AWS, Azure, GCP), autoscaling and spot‑instance fault tolerance.
• Drive performance engineering, including chunked I/O, caching and bandwidth management.
• Set technical direction, improve testing, observability and operational excellence.
• Mentor teammates and help onboard new engineers.

Required profile

• Deep experience building production‑grade systems software with ownership at Staff level.
• Strong proficiency in Go and comfortable with C (or C++), close to the operating system.
• Solid knowledge of Linux internals: filesystems, namespaces, processes, signals and networking.
• Experience building distributed or cloud‑native systems across multiple clouds.
• Ability to write simple, well‑structured, well‑tested code and debug at low levels.
• Comfort with ambiguity and independent work.
