Strategy and Operations Associate Director, EMEA Cluster

About the role

Novartis is looking for a Strategy and Operations Associate Director (internal title: SSO Strategy & Operations Cluster Head) for its Study & Site Operations (SSO) cluster, based in Barcelona, Spain. The role sits at the centre of driving strategic execution, operational excellence, innovation and transformation across the cluster, partnering with senior leaders across local and hub teams to turn strategy into action and improve the execution of clinical development programmes. Relocation support is not offered.

Key responsibilities

• Translate hub strategies into actionable plans that drive cluster performance and business outcomes.
• Lead strategic initiatives that improve operational excellence, productivity and clinical trial execution.
• Identify cluster opportunities, risks and challenges and implement solutions supporting long-term success.
• Drive innovation, transformation and change management initiatives across Study & Site Operations.
• Oversee cluster communication and information management strategies to strengthen stakeholder alignment.
• Partner with senior leaders to optimise resource planning, portfolio execution and operational effectiveness.
• Leverage data, market insights and industry trends to inform strategic decisions and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or a related scientific discipline.
• Experience in pharmaceutical development, clinical research or clinical trial delivery in a complex global environment.
• Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives that drive operational excellence and business performance.
• Strong understanding of clinical development processes, industry regulations and Good Clinical Practice requirements.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive change in matrix organisations without direct authority.

• Expected annual base salary range of EUR 63,600 to EUR 118,000, set according to skills, competencies and experience.
