Systems Engineer, HPC

About the role

Mistral AI is seeking a Systems Engineer to design, operate, and scale the infrastructure behind its AI platforms. This hands‑on, hybrid position combines large‑scale Linux systems administration with engineering of automation, performance, and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain large‑scale Linux environments across bare‑metal, cluster, and cloud resources.
• Monitor system health, troubleshoot incidents, and ensure high availability for production and research workloads.
• Scale clusters from hundreds to thousands of nodes and manage petabyte‑scale storage systems.
• Automate operational tasks using Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform, and contribute to deployment and provisioning pipelines.
• Collaborate with HPC, infrastructure, DevOps, and research teams to bridge user needs and platform capabilities.

Required profile

• Strong Linux systems administration experience in large‑scale environments.
• Hands‑on experience with HPC clusters or cloud infrastructure and job schedulers such as Slurm.
• Solid troubleshooting skills across systems, hardware, and networks.
• Pragmatic problem‑solver comfortable in fast‑scaling, low‑ego, collaborative settings.
