Aerodynamics Engineer - International Mobility (Getafe / Manching)

About the role

Aerodynamics Engineer position at Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe (Madrid) with an international mobility component. The selected candidate joins the Aerodynamics Team in Getafe, starts with an 18 to 24-month secondment in the EF2000 Flight Joint Team in Manching (Germany) to contribute to the EF2000 development, then returns to Getafe to continue supporting the EF2000 program and other Airbus Defence & Space aircraft. The work takes place in a multidisciplinary Flight Physics environment with international partners.

Key responsibilities

• Design air vehicle external shapes and deliver comprehensive aerodynamic models, performance data, handling qualities and loads in steady and unsteady modes on time, cost and quality.
• Develop and maintain specialized technologies, methods and numerical and experimental aerodynamic prediction tools to meet program specifications throughout the aircraft lifecycle.
• Contribute to vehicle project aerodynamics and flight performance requirements across design and major component/system integration phases.
• Acquire and advance innovative aerodynamic technologies in line with company strategy.
• Link with external research communities in aerodynamics and multidisciplinary air vehicle design and optimization.
• Collaborate with flight physics disciplines such as structures, loads, stability & control and mass properties.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering; a PhD in Aerospace Engineering is valuable.
• Willingness to undertake an international secondment; aerospace or engineering experience is appreciated.
• Advanced English and Spanish (written and spoken); German is valued.
• Adaptability in a multinational, multidisciplinary setting, willingness to travel, fast learning, strong analytical skills and stress resilience.

Required skills

• Understanding of aerodynamic principles, fluid dynamics or numerical prediction techniques.
• Nice to have: aerodynamic design and characterization, numerical prediction tools, wind tunnel tests, CAD tools, flight mechanics.
