Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Engineer (Military Derivatives)

About the role

A new team within the Military Derivatives department of Air Power at Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe (Spain) is looking for a Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Engineer. The selected candidate will analyse and validate metallic parts and composite or hybrid structures, and write and check stress dossiers, justification reports and test programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and validate metallic parts in Fatigue and Damage Tolerance (F&DT), as well as composite or hybrid structures.
• Write and check stress dossiers, justification reports and test programmes.
• Define justification approaches and ensure activity progress with the support of the Technical Authority.
• Support manufacturing by assessing non-conformities on structural elements.
• Work closely with design engineers and communicate with internal and external stakeholders, experts and civil or military authorities.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in Fatigue and Damage Tolerance (F&DT).
• Advanced level of English and Spanish (written and spoken); French is a plus.
• Autonomous approach, strong adaptability, open-mindedness, synthetic thinking and good communication skills.
• Nice to have: active security clearance or eligibility to obtain one.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of Airbus calculation methods and tools.
• Understanding of digital tools and solutions.
