Application Solution Engineer - FIS

About the role

SGS, a global testing, inspection and certification company, is looking for an Application Solution Engineer (ASE) in Madrid. The ASE acts as the top-level techno-functional expert for corporate IT applications, aligning end-to-end process design with business needs, advising on high-level specifications and ensuring standardized, secure and high-quality solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide global solution design leadership for assigned processes and review techno-functional documents, frameworks and strategies.
• Review data models and processes, collaborating with other teams to optimise architecture and evaluate performance and reliability.
• Work with requirements, use cases and models, and consult Global Process Owners, business leaders and IT representatives on requirements and their alignment with the business strategy.
• Collaborate with implementation teams and other architects on setting up processes that meet agreed requirements.
• Know the Enterprise Architecture and Security standards and best practices, and validate and enrich technical impact assessments.
• Ensure technical coordination for deployment and develop or validate technical designs for all application development activities.
• Make sure developments meet technical and operations requirements such as security, availability, maintainability and performance, for custom, packaged and legacy applications.
• Estimate effort, validate third-party estimates and oversee workload planning across development phases.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree with a relevant IT or computer science background.
• Experience managing requirements through the full delivery and operational life cycle.
• At least 5 years of extensive knowledge of Oracle eBusiness Suite (on-premise) development tools and stack.
• Experience with Oracle eBusiness Suite Financials, Supply Chain and Manufacturing is a plus; Oracle ERP Cloud rollout, integration and extension experience is also valued.

Required skills

• Oracle eBusiness Suite: PL/SQL, APEX, Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports, Oracle BI Publisher, Oracle Applications Framework, Web ADI, Open Interfaces, Oracle XML Gateway, Integrated SOA Gateway, Oracle Workflow.
• Software life cycle engineering, risk management, quality, security, privacy and safety.
• Development methodologies such as Agile, DevOps and Lean.
• Good communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.
