Associate Director of Food & Beverage

About the role

The Assistant Food and Beverage Director supports the Food and Beverage Director in overseeing the administration of the Food and Beverage Division within a Hyatt hotel. The role covers forecasting, budgeting and training, ensures compliance with Hyatt procedures, local regulations and brand standards, manages special events and helps achieve the division's customer service, quality, revenue and profit objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the F&B Director in short- and long-term planning and management of F&B operations, front and back of house
• Develop and recommend budgets, marketing plans and objectives, and implement F&B sales and marketing programs
• Oversee employee professional development, coaching, performance evaluation, feedback and disciplinary actions
• Support payroll, reports, forecasts, inventory and budget management, and coordinate with other hotel departments
• Resolve customer complaints, run quality control walks and ensure compliance with Hyatt service standards and Department of Health regulations
• Control costs by monitoring purchasing, profit and loss and labour costs against demand patterns and budgets
• Manage staffing levels for events, attend pre-shift meetings and mentor staff

Required profile

• Minimum of six years of progressive hotel experience, including at least three in a management role
• Bachelor's degree in Hospitality/Tourism Management or a related field; education and experience may be combined
• Fluency in a second language is an asset; knowledge of wine and spirits is required
• Valid food handler's badge; CSME certificate holders are welcomed
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays and a varied schedule
