Chief of Staff to the CEO
AirHelp · Barcelona
Job description
About the role
AirHelp is hiring a Chief of Staff to partner directly with its CEO and executive leadership team and drive the next phase of growth. The role owns the company's operating cadence, ensures rapid decision-making and executes cross-functional initiatives across the enterprise. It is an office-based position (4 days a week in the office) in Barcelona, with a base salary of 80,000 to 120,000 EUR gross per year.
Key responsibilities
- Own the operating cadence: planning calendar, executive meeting architecture, business review structure and decision log, and cut meetings and reports that no longer earn their place.
- Maintain a single, honest view of every material cross-company project, covering status, owner, risk, dependency, intake, sequencing, escalation and closure.
- Take end-to-end ownership of programmes with no natural functional home, such as compliance and regulatory, entity and restructuring, organisational change or systems and infrastructure.
- Run the board, QBR and investor meeting process end to end, including agenda preparation, pack coordination and tracking actions to closure.
- Prepare every major decision for the CEO, frame the options, assemble the evidence and surface dissent before the decision.
- Advise the CEO on how to spend their time against the company's priorities.
Required profile
- 8-12+ years of structured problem-solving and programme delivery at pace, in consulting, banking, corporate development or an operating role with cross-functional scope.
- Track record of running complex, cross-functional programmes to completion without formal authority over the people delivering them.
- Experience managing upward candidly, and a clear example of giving a senior leader hard news and the outcome.
- Ability to follow a CFO's or CCO's argument on payback, margin or allocation and to spot when it is weak.
- Exceptional written communication, a high tolerance for ambiguity and comfort being the least powerful person in a room of principals.
- Board-level process exposure, experience in multi-business or portfolio structures, and familiarity with travel, consumer digital, marketplace or subscription businesses are a strong plus; a previous Chief of Staff title is not required.
What we offer
- Private healthcare, non-service days, wellness budget, travel stipend, gym and transport subsidy, and free access to AirHelp services.
- An agreed path forward, with strong performers able to move into line or functional leadership roles.
- Personal development plans, workshops, mentorship and language classes.
