Combat Fuel, Inerting and Fire Protection Systems Engineer

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Combat Fuel, Inerting and Fire Protection Systems Engineer in its Getafe area team. The team covers fuel, inerting and fire protection systems for legacy and under-development military platforms (A400M, C295, Eurofighter, MRTT, EuroDrone, FCAS NGFD & RC, SiRTAP), across the full systems engineering life cycle from concept to fleet support.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to defining the architecture of fuel, inerting and fire protection systems for EF, FCAS, SiRTAP and Spanish Trainer products.
• Allocate functions, requirements, performance and integrity levels to subsystems and equipment.
• Define specifications under Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Carry out hydromechanical, functional, performance and thermal modelling of system behaviour and components.
• Liaise with external partners, vendors and suppliers, and with Airbus groups such as Flight Test, Safety, Chief Engineer's Office, Programs, Airworthiness, Customer Support, MAP/FAL on-site and Procurement.
• Prepare documentation for airworthiness, certification and qualification, and technical reports on function, performance, control and monitoring, zonal safety and installation.
• Support testing: define test requirements, support execution, track tests and report results (rig, ground and flight).
• Analyse occurrences in the in-service fleet and evaluate consequences and mitigations.

Required profile

• Engineering degree.
• Working knowledge of modelling tools (Matlab, Simulink, SCADE, Amesim, etc.).
• Negotiation-level English, written and spoken.
• Commitment to integrity and awareness of compliance risks.

Required skills

• Hydromechanical systems experience is mandatory.
• Desirable: aerospace systems controls and monitoring, data analytics and aerospace hydromechanical systems experience.
