Cybersecurity Threat Detection & Response Engineer

About the role

HP Cybersecurity protects the security of the HP enterprise while the company continues its digital transformation. The Threat Detection & Response team's mission is to find and stop attackers, and this role works closely with other cybersecurity functions. The position is based in Sant Cugat del Valles, Spain, full time, with no shift premium and no relocation.

Key responsibilities

• Use knowledge of the HP environment to scope the extent and impact of any attack or breach.
• Resolve HP security issues related to incidents and threats through independent analysis and/or research.
• Support incident escalation, assess probable damage, identify damage control and remediation, and help develop courses of action.
• Hunt the HP environment for known or emerging Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs).
• Identify attacks and threats, run analyses on incidents, research countermeasures and contribute to counter-threat programmes.

Required profile

• 6+ years of relevant experience, including security operations, incident response or threat hunting.
• Experience developing threat-hunting hypotheses and using security platforms to test, search and investigate potential threats.
• Familiarity with Security Analytics Platforms and Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) platforms.
• Knowledge of common enterprise technology solutions.
• Periodic weekend on-call required.
• Preferred: a technical cyber security certification from a recognised body such as SANS, ISACA, (ICS)2, CompTIA, Cisco or CERT.

Required skills

• Digital forensics, including file system and registry artifacts, cloud forensics, memory analysis and malware reverse engineering (a strong plus).
• Security analytics and EDR platforms.
