Data Engineering Intern

About the role

Bitpanda, a cryptocurrency trading platform founded in Vienna and operating across Europe, is hiring a Data Engineering Intern for its Data Hub team in Barcelona. You will build and operate a modern data platform that turns raw data into reliable, high-quality data products for teams across Bitpanda, with direct mentorship and engineering standards. The position is full-time for 6 months, starting on 1 February 2027, with hiring starting in October 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Write clean Python and SQL code to design, implement and maintain ETL pipelines for data ingestion and transformation.
• Develop clean datasets and data models used by analysts, business stakeholders and decision-makers.
• Apply engineering practices such as version control, automated testing, code reviews and CI/CD workflows.
• Work with Product, Operations and Finance teams to turn business requirements into data solutions.
• Take ownership of data engineering workflows and project deliverables under the guidance of experienced team members.

Required profile

• Foundational background in Computer Science or a relevant coding bootcamp focused on data engineering.
• Practical experience writing Python scripts and SQL queries through personal projects, coursework or training.
• Basic exposure to cloud environments, preferably AWS, or GCP/Azure.
• Fluent English and strong communication skills.
