Data Science Intern

About the role

HP's Applied AI & Automation team is looking for a Data Science Intern to help build and ship the applications and automation solutions that drive AI/ML adoption across HP's Commercial Organization. The internship is paid, lasts between 4 and 12 months, and starts in February 2027 and continues until June-July 2027. Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Spanish university, stay enrolled until the end of the internship, and be able to sign an internship agreement with their university.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and ship full-stack applications in Python and JavaScript, from end to end.
• Build clean, intuitive web interfaces with modern JavaScript, ideally a framework such as React.
• Develop services, REST APIs and data flows in Python, integrating with enterprise systems and data sources.
• Package, deploy and maintain applications on Azure using Docker, Azure Functions and AKS, and monitor performance.
• Integrate GenAI/ML services, such as LLM APIs and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems.
• Work with product owners, engineers, data and cloud experts, and RPA developers.
• Translate stakeholder needs into technical requirements and own quality through testing, code reviews and version control.
• Support and mentor citizen developers and share reusable components and patterns.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Available to start in February 2027 and finish by June-July 2027.
• Proficiency in English is a must.
• Nice to have: basic exposure to GenAI/LLM concepts, AI/automation tooling (Automation Anywhere, n8n, Copilot Studio, CoWork), and basic ML/data science awareness.

Required skills

• Python for back-end development and system integration.
• Modern JavaScript, ideally with a framework such as React.
• HTML/CSS, REST APIs and client-server basics.
• Git / GitHub for version control.
• Basic SQL and data stores.
• Basic familiarity with Azure (or another major cloud provider).
