DevOps Engineer (Data)

About the role

Shalion, a data and insights company serving global manufacturers and brands, is looking for a DevOps Engineer (Data) in Barcelona. You will own the foundations of its data organization: the Snowflake platform, the AWS lakehouse built on Iceberg tables, the Airflow orchestration layer and the Terraform code that provisions everything.

Key responsibilities

• Own and evolve the Snowflake platform: warehouses, databases, storage integrations, stages, external tables, shares and network policies.
• Design and maintain the access model: role hierarchies, grants and least-privilege permissions for people, service users and external partners.
• Manage the platform as code with Terraform, reviewed in pull requests and deployed via GitHub Actions.
• Operate the AWS lakehouse: ingesting parquet files and Iceberg tables from S3, and the IAM plumbing connecting AWS and Snowflake.
• Orchestrate and harden pipelines in Apache Airflow, improving reliability and cost efficiency with Synq and SELECT.dev.
• Apply security and governance best practices: authentication, secret management, naming conventions and clear data ownership.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in data platform, data engineering or platform/infrastructure roles in production.
• Fluent Spanish and English (B1 or higher).
• Daily use of GitHub for version control and CI/CD, with a security-first mindset.
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Snowflake or similar, as a platform (warehouses, stages, shares, RBAC).
• Terraform or equivalent infrastructure as code.
• Apache Airflow or a comparable orchestrator, including operation beyond DAGs.
• AWS (S3, IAM) and Iceberg tables in a lakehouse.
• Nice to have: hands-on Iceberg on AWS, data observability or Snowflake cost tooling, dbt, Airbyte, Docker, SQL and Python.

• Permanent contract, salary from 50,000 to 70,000 EUR gross per year depending on experience.
