Embedded Software Engineer - Airborne Connectivity

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer in its Airborne Connectivity team in Getafe (Madrid). The team designs and develops products, hardware and software that provide connectivity and communications to customers, integrated into Secure Communications in Connected Intelligence and military airborne platforms such as Eurofighter, C295, MRTT, SIRTAP and Eurodrone. The engineer takes part in the full lifecycle of embedded software, from requirements to testing and target computer implementation, and leads design and architectural decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Work across all levels of embedded software development according to software standards (requirements, design, coding, verification, configuration, documentation release, change management and support to software QA).
• Partner with product and program managers, system engineers and validation teams to drive software products.
• Take part in planning and scoping of team projects.
• Support product owners and project managers to deliver high-quality software on time.
• Promote innovation across the department.

Required profile

• Degree in software, IT, telecommunications, industrial engineering or a related discipline.
• 3 years of experience.
• Expertise in real-time and/or embedded software development and in defining software requirements.
• Expertise in C/C++ and/or Ada and in software verification.
• Fluent English and Spanish.
• Ability to reconcile multiple perspectives on products, projects and processes.

Required skills

• C/C++ and/or Ada programming and low-level development.
• Preferred: knowledge of DO-178C and EFA airworthiness certification, and Common Criteria cyber-security accreditation.
• Preferred: system and software design tools (SysML, UML), IDEs (GPS, AdaMulti, Eclipse) and verification tools (Vector Cast, AdaTest95).
