Forward Deployed Engineer - AI Architect Lead

About the role

Kyndryl runs and reimagines the mission-critical technology systems that power leading businesses, with a focus on AI-powered insight. As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), you own end-to-end delivery of complex AI engagements, turning business challenges into technical solutions and acting as a trusted technical partner to customers. You work with significant autonomy, using AI-assisted development tools across the full delivery lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with customers to turn their business challenges into high-quality, fit-for-purpose technical solutions
• Build and iterate custom AI solutions tailored to customer needs, using agentic AI frameworks
• Own delivery from scoping to production, working with the customer team to deploy production-ready solutions
• Troubleshoot and improve system performance, scalability and reliability
• Capture deployment learnings, document best practices and share insights to improve Kyndryl's core platforms
• Contribute to the evolution of Kyndryl's AI platforms through feedback, code contributions and collaboration with product teams

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Data Science, Engineering or a closely related field, or equivalent professional experience
• Willingness to travel and work on customer premises as required
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and explain technical value to stakeholders, including executives

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python, or another modern language such as C#, Node.js or TypeScript; experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch is a plus
• Software delivery lifecycle, Git and GitHub, and data engineering tools such as Pandas and Spark
• Cloud AI platforms (AWS, Azure, Google AI) and distributed computing architectures
• Preferred: open-source AI tools such as Hugging Face, agentic AI systems (LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, CrewAI), RAG architectures, and system-level optimisation and security
