Intern - Competition Practice, Madrid

About the role

Compass Lexecon, an economic consulting firm, is recruiting interns for its Competition Practice in Madrid. The practice gives expert economic advice on competition policy, economic and financial regulation, public policy and damage assessment in complex disputes, including cases before the European Commission, the General Court and national authorities. Interns contribute to cases alongside senior staff, linking client issues to economic theory and supporting them with empirical evidence. Internships last 3-6 months, during, between or just after completing an economics degree; applications close on 26 February 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse qualitative and quantitative client data to understand how competition works in their industry
• Review literature and take part in discussions on the theoretical and empirical approach
• Carry out empirical analysis using Excel and Stata
• Draft reports summarising the analysis
• Take part in client meetings and conference calls

Required profile

• Currently studying or recently graduated with a Bachelor's or Master's in economics, ideally with a focus on microeconomics, industrial organisation and/or econometrics
• Highly analytical, with strong organisational and communication skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail, able to work independently and in a team
• Fluency in English, and desirably Spanish
