Intern, Strategic Communications and Public Affairs

About the role

FTI Consulting, a global expert firm for organizations facing crisis and transformation, is hiring an intern for its Strategic Communications practice in Madrid. The intern supports the implementation of strategic communications and public affairs programs after comprehensive training, gaining exposure to a full range of services and learning the inner workings of an international communications firm.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the work for key client accounts
• Prepare regular news reports and political analysis, and write reports and briefings
• Help coordinate and organize events
• Compile, track, summarize and report on media coverage
• Research companies and core capability topics
• Maintain contact lists, editorial forward feature lists and event calendars
• Support corporate communications and media relations, such as liaising with journalists, distributing press releases and supporting press conferences
• Support financial communications and investor relations, including earnings-related materials and investment community marketing plans
• Support new business initiatives, such as prospect research and editing PowerPoint presentations and proposals

Required profile

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a full-time bachelor's degree, graduating between June 2024 and December 2027
• Able to start a 6-month internship in January 2027 and commit 40 hours per week
• Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish and English
• Preferred: a degree in European studies, law, international relations or politics; prior experience in public affairs firms; interest in policy issues in fast-moving sectors; strong analytical skills; basic social media knowledge
