IT Cyber Security Engineer – Hybrid (Barcelona)

About the role

Clariant is seeking an IT Cyber Security Engineer to join its global IT team in Barcelona. You will play a critical part in safeguarding the company’s digital assets, systems, and infrastructure against evolving cyber threats while collaborating with Security Operations, Incident Response, and senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain Clariant’s cybersecurity risk management framework and methodology.
• Conduct regular risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities across systems, applications and infrastructure.
• Define and track key risk indicators and metrics to communicate exposure.
• Monitor emerging IT risks, including threats, compliance issues and operational risks.
• Ensure compliance with standards such as ISF SoGP, ISO 27001 and NIST CSF.
• Design and document processes that strengthen the security services portfolio.
• Support security awareness training and lead phishing simulation campaigns.
• Collaborate with the Cyber Security Operations team on projects and daily tasks.
• Research and stay current with the latest cybersecurity technologies and threat landscapes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Management or related field.
• 3‑4 years of experience in IT risk management or information security consulting.
• At least 2 years of hands‑on cyber security experience.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage senior management.
• Proactive, curious mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
