Junior ISR Systems Engineer – Military Derivatives

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Junior ISR Systems Engineer to join Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe, Spain. You will work within a high‑performing team developing multi‑sensor mission suites for maritime surveillance and anti‑submarine warfare platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Support leading systems engineering activities for ISR mission systems.
• Analyse customer requirements and translate them into design solutions.
• Assess innovative technologies and perform cost‑benefit analyses.
• Specify, integrate, qualify, certify and maintain airworthiness of mission systems.
• Manage sensor and subsystem integration, including acoustic, MAD and radar sensors.
• Drive system integration and lifecycle management within a V‑model development framework.
• Support verification & validation activities, including laboratory, ground and flight testing.
• Provide technical guidance to specialised suppliers and support commercial campaigns.

Required profile

• Degree in Aerospace, Electronics, Computer Science or Systems Engineering; a Master’s degree is highly preferred.
• 1‑2 years of experience in ISR mission systems or avionics within the aerospace or defence sector.
• Strong proficiency in English.

Required skills

• Acoustic Systems and Magnetic Anomaly Detection (MAD).
• High‑performance computing platforms, embedded hardware and real‑time environments.
• Aeronautical data buses such as MIL‑STD‑1553, ARINC‑429 and Ethernet/AFDX.
• Aeronautical cybersecurity standards (DO‑326A, ED‑202A).
• Radar, electro‑optics and electronic warfare (SIGINT/ELINT/ESM/COMINT) technologies.
• Maritime surveillance sensors (AIS) and tactical datalinks (Link 16, VMF, Link 22).
• Systems engineering, V&V processes, configuration control and airworthiness certification.
