Junior Structural Design Engineer

About the role

A Junior Structural Design Engineer position is open within Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe (Madrid), joining the Combat and UAV Structural Design team. The Combat area covers Eurofighter wing structures, including design modifications, repairs, non-conformity resolution and support to aircraft in service, while the UAS area develops the Eurodrone and Sirtap programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Design and validate metallic and composite/hybrid structural components and assemblies, optimised for weight, cost, performance and production/assembly requirements, with safety ensured through appropriate design tools and procedures.
• Support the full lifecycle of an aircraft using modern tools and software, working closely with stress, system, aerodynamic and other engineering departments.
• Support stakeholders such as purchasing, manufacturing engineering and production, and follow up design suppliers.
• Apply state-of-the-art design methods in advanced military projects and take part in continuous improvement and technology projects.

Required profile

• 1 to 2 years of experience in metallic and composites technologies applied to design.
• Ability to interface with project stakeholders (stress, aerodynamics, systems design, maintenability) and provide technical solutions to project requirements.
• Advanced English and Spanish.
• An Airbus internship is a plus.
