Operations Specialist Internship

About the role

BMAT Music Innovators is offering a paid 4-month Operations Internship in Barcelona, with a hybrid setup (Barcelona preferred, some remote work possible). The internship is a hands-on programme for students and early-career professionals who want to use advanced technical skills to optimise business processes and deliver scalable solutions in the music tech industry. You will act as a bridge between client needs and robust technical execution, implementing automation solutions and improving the quality and efficiency of deliveries to BMAT customers. You report directly to the Operations Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in troubleshooting and technical problem-solving for complex issues affecting the quality of monitoring and reporting services.
• Contribute to the maintenance and evolution of operational and recording systems (Linux/Bash scripting is a strong plus).
• Design and implement automation scripts and tools (Python, SQL/MongoDB) to replace manual tasks and manage large volumes of data.
• Ensure data quality and scalability of solutions, and provide clear technical documentation for knowledge transfer.
• Collaborate with the Operations team and the Business Line, and autonomously manage tasks and report incidents and improvement proposals within 60 days.

Required profile

• Fluency in English is a must; additional languages such as French, Italian or Portuguese may be required for specific roles.
• Preferably 1+ year of experience with large datasets, multi-step projects or client setups, and direct client support in a technical environment.
• Knowledge of the music industry is preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong organisation, attention to detail, communication skills, confidentiality and a proactive, collaborative attitude.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with coding and database access is a plus; basic Python, SQL/MongoDB or Bash scripting is highly valued.
• Comfortable with large amounts of data and numbers.
