R&D Business Tools Operations Specialist

About the role

Roche's Digital Innovation and Operational Services chapter is a global R&D team focused on improving productivity, efficiency and collaboration across its global interfaces. It seeks an R&D Enterprise Tools Operations Specialist to join its global support team, acting as a reliable service provider who handles critical system requests in core business tools so that scientists and engineers worldwide can focus on product development.

Key responsibilities

• Execute enterprise tool system tasks based on R&D customer requests, using knowledge of business tools, compliance requirements and R&D processes.
• Provide timely, professional and empathetic support for R&D operational issues and system problems.
• Act as subject matter expert for one or more complex R&D business applications.
• Develop expertise in key processes such as records management, lab data and change requests.
• Anticipate customer needs by understanding R&D roles and priorities, and streamline operations to save time for scientists.
• Identify manual steps and suggest digitization and process improvements.
• Apply or develop automation and AI tools to reduce administrative load on R&D staff.
• Ensure all activities comply with regulated R&D processes, supporting audits and data retrieval.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical, scientific or business discipline.
• 2+ years of professional experience in operations, technical support or system administration, or equivalent academic projects/internships.
• Excellent written and verbal English; German is a plus.
• Ability to work well in a hybrid, virtual and global team.

Required skills

• Quickly learning new software, systems and processes.
• Prior experience with enterprise business applications (e.g. electronic document management, learning management, project management tools) is desirable.
• Desirable: data structures, databases, automation, scripting, AI prompt engineering and AI agent development.
• Experience with SAP, Cornerstone, Google Suite and Office Suite is a plus.
