Senior Mechanical Systems Design Engineer - Military Derivatives

About the role

A permanent position as Mechanical Systems Integration & Design Engineer is open at Airbus Defence & Space, based at the Getafe site in Spain. The successful candidate joins the Mechanical Systems Installation department of the Airbus Derivatives area and works in a multidisciplinary team integrating mechanical systems for a military program. The team focuses on quality and improvement for fuel, hydraulic, environmental control systems and equipment integration on aircraft, in a digital, agile and LEAN approach.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical solutions supporting the build, test and delivery of aircraft.
• Define mechanical systems from system architecture and specify mechanical components for purchasing.
• Produce mechanical parts documentation for manufacturing and installation documentation for assembly.
• Support stakeholders such as supply chain, quality, purchasing, manufacturing engineering, production and assembly, stress analysis, airworthiness and certification.
• Contribute to design manuals, design principles, design and product improvement, and to cross-program configuration control.
• Design and validate mechanical system installation components and assemblies optimised for weight, cost, performance and production requirements while ensuring safety.

Required profile

• Degree in Aeronautical or Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
• More than 7 years of engineering experience in a design or airframe department.
• Experience as engineer/designer on fluid system installations (hydraulic, fuel, pneumatics) and equipment installations (sensors, antennas, lights, cameras, cockpit).
• Advanced English (Spanish as mother tongue); French is an asset.
• Adaptable to new topics, new business and networked work, with strong communication skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of MSI design, including CATIA V5.
• Ability to challenge systems requirements, define component positions and select manufacturing technologies.
