Senior Product Owner - Digital & AI Products

About the role

SGS, a global leader in testing, inspection and certification, is looking for a Senior Product Owner in Madrid to own the product direction and delivery of one or more of its flagship digital and AI-powered products. The role works closely with engineering leads, designers and business stakeholders to turn ambitious goals into a prioritized backlog and stays close to the work so the product owner understands what is being built.

Key responsibilities

• Own the roadmap: define and maintain a clear, prioritized roadmap balancing user needs, business value and engineering reality.
• Translate strategy into backlog: break down problems into well-scoped epics and stories that engineers can ship.
• Partner with AI, full-stack and data engineers, making real-time trade-off decisions as the product is built.
• Act as the product's voice to business stakeholders, gathering requirements, managing expectations and communicating progress honestly.
• Define and measure success metrics, instrument them and use the data to decide what to build next.

Required profile

• 5+ years of product ownership or product management experience, ideally in a B2B, industrial or AI-heavy context.
• Comfortable working on AI, ML or data-heavy products without writing code, knowing what is possible and what is hard.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English, able to bridge technical engineers and senior business stakeholders.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and high autonomy, preferring to work alongside engineers.

Required skills

• User research, requirements gathering and modern agile practices such as story mapping, OKRs and dual-track agile.
• Hands-on use of Jira / Linear, Figma and product analytics tools.
