Software Solution Architect - WMS/WES/WCS

About the role

KION Group, which owns Linde Material Handling since 2006, is looking for a Software Solution Architect in Barcelona. You will design and specify WMS/WES/WCS solutions and act as the main link between customer requirements, regional experts and the development team across the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in the project kick-off with the customer and create WMS/WES/WCS process flowcharts and specifications.
• Create simulation scenarios for throughput and material flow to validate logistics processes.
• Turn solution designs into development tasks, user stories and acceptance criteria, and lead technical exchanges with developers across EMEA, APAC and NA.
• Validate the solution through FAT and SAT tests, and provide training and handover to customers.
• Be the technical escalation point during go-live and support improvements and lessons learned.
• Keep quality, time and budget, support agile development and sprints, and help shape proposals for large projects.
• Bridge the solution team and regional intralogistics experts, and provide senior technical input during the sales phase.

Required profile

• University degree or bachelor's in computer science, systems, software, industrial engineering or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in solution design, technical architecture or senior consulting, preferably in logistics or industrial automation.
• Fluent written and spoken English; flexible and willing to travel (minimum 20% EMEA).
• Customer-oriented, strategic thinker with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Required skills

• Software architecture across frameworks, frontend, backend and cloud; automation, robotics and software architecture.
• Basic knowledge of C# fullstack.NET, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, GitLab, JIRA and frontend UI/HMI.
• Interfacing skills such as SAP interfaces, OPC-UA, REST, TCP/IP, MQTT, Modbus, JSON, HTML, XML.
• Familiarity with WMS, ERP, PLC and SCADA, and intralogistics processes.
