Test Pilot - Combat Aircraft

About the role

Aerospacial defence company Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Test Pilot for its Flight Test Department in Getafe (Madrid). The selected candidate contributes to flight test activities across Airbus Defence and Space programmes, supporting the development, certification, qualification, validation, verification and acceptance of aircraft and systems. The role works closely with multidisciplinary teams, the Chief Engineer Office and Programme teams, and includes test pilot activities at Airbus and customer facilities worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and report test flights, supporting development, certification, qualification, validation and verification (V&V) and acceptance of flight operations.
• Perform test pilot activities at the Airbus Test Centre and support other internal organisations, including activities at Airbus and customer facilities worldwide.
• Take part in test, production, delivery and training for the EF-2000 Typhoon, including in-flight and simulator activities.
• Take part in test, production, delivery and training for the A400M, military air systems and derivative aircraft (A310, A330, A320, etc.), in-flight and in simulators as applicable.
• Support the Chief Engineer Office and Programmes in aircraft and systems design and development, including FCAS and UAV programmes.
• Support operational and commercial activities as required.

Required profile

• More than 2,500 flight hours, including at least 1,500 in combat aircraft.
• At least 5 years as a Test Pilot in Development Test, Certification & Qualification and Validation & Verification activities.
• At least 5 years of experience in Flight Test Operations management.
• Previous or current EF-2000 Typhoon qualification and Air-to-Air Refuelling experience as tanker and/or receiver.
• NATO SECRET security clearance and Spanish National Security Clearance for SIRTAP & FCAS.
• Advanced English (ICAO Level 5 or above) and native-level Spanish.

Required skills

• Valid EASA CAT 1 or CAT 2 Test Pilot rating (USAF TPS and USNTPS also accepted).
• EASA CPL/ATPL(A), ME, IR and UPRT ratings, and a valid EASA Class 1 Medical Certificate.
• MCC qualification valued.
• Nice to have: Flight Test Instructor qualification, Airbus Type Rating, UAV qualification or experience, and an engineering degree or Master's.
