Application Engineer - FPGA (Altera)

About the role

Arrow Global Components, part of Arrow Electronics, is hiring an Altera FPGA Application Engineer in Alcobendas, Spain. As a trusted technical advisor, you will guide and support customers in designing, implementing and optimising Altera (Intel) FPGA-based solutions, working closely with customers, field engineering, sales and supplier teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert technical support for Altera FPGA-related customer requests and ensure successful implementation of their requirements.
• Interface with Field Application Engineers, field sales and customers, following up on field inquiries.
• Support customer FPGA designs in RTL design, custom IP development, platform and device migration and system-level optimisation.
• Collaborate with software and hardware engineers on complex, multi-disciplinary design projects.
• Review customer designs at RTL and architecture level, giving feedback aligned with Altera FPGA best practices.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by developing benchmarks, reference designs, demonstrations and proof points.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 6+ years of hands-on experience in FPGA design or applications engineering, focused on Altera FPGA devices and toolchains.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• Strong relationship-building, problem-solving and communication skills, able to work independently and within a global team.

Required skills

• Solid experience with industry-standard FPGA development environments: RTL design, simulation, synthesis, timing analysis and debugging.
• Hands-on experience with measurement and lab equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
