DevOps Delivery Manager
roche · Sant Cugat del Vallès
Job description
About the role
The Diagnostics Insights DevOps team (about 14 engineers) supports the product teams of four Agile Release Trains across three pillars: Continuous Integration, Cloud & Continuous Delivery and On-demand Environments. It defines the engineering specifications and builds shared capabilities such as Product CI, a standard deployment chart and an infrastructure portal. Roche is looking for a technical DevOps Delivery Manager to own what the team delivers and when: a clear backlog, firm dates, visible progress and informed stakeholders. The role sits inside the team's day-to-day work.
Key responsibilities
- Own the team backlog across the three pillars, prioritise it with the ARTs' RTEs and POs, and keep it clean, sized and dated.
- Turn commitments into delivery dates, hold the team to them, spot stalled work early and unblock it.
- Design and run progress tracking and reporting: dashboards, metrics (lead time, throughput, predictability, adoption) and reporting cadence.
- Promote the shared capabilities to product teams, drive adoption and gather feedback.
- Own change management: plan, approve, track and communicate infrastructure changes (e.g. EKS upgrades, networking changes, deprecations) under Roche's change control and compliance process.
- Run regular backlog reviews with each ART and work with Engineering Managers and technical leads to turn specifications into deliverable increments.
- Drive accountability through influence, follow up on commitments and escalate only when needed.
- Support the delivery cadence (planning, reviews, retrospectives) and step into a Scrum Master role when the team needs it.
Required profile
- 5+ years in software delivery, including at least 2 as a Product Owner, Delivery Manager or Technical Program Manager on engineering or infrastructure teams.
- Proven ability to lead through influence, holding engineers and stakeholders to dates and saying "not now" without damaging relationships.
- Fluent English and Spanish.
- Nice to have: Agile at scale (SAFe or similar) and Jira, previous hands-on DevOps or Platform Engineer role, regulated environment experience (medical devices, IVD, GxP).
Required skills
- Ability to read pipelines, understand Kubernetes deployments and follow Terraform plans.
- Working knowledge of GitHub Actions, containers, AWS and Infrastructure as Code.
- Nice to have: GitOps, Helm or Backstage experience.
