Embedded Software Engineer - Airborne Connectivity

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer for its Airborne Connectivity team in Getafe (Madrid). The team designs and develops hardware and software solutions providing advanced connectivity and communication for military airborne platforms such as Eurofighter, C295, MRTT, SIRTAP and Eurodrone, as well as Secure Communications programmes. The role covers the full embedded software development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture to verification, testing and implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded real-time software, contributing to software architecture, low-level design and implementation according to applicable standards.
• Define, analyse and manage software requirements, ensuring traceability and alignment with system specifications and programme objectives.
• Perform coding, integration and verification, including testing, configuration management, documentation, change management and support to software quality assurance.
• Work with product managers, programme managers, system engineers and validation teams to deliver high-quality software.
• Contribute to project planning and technical decisions, and promote continuous improvement of processes, tools and technologies.

Required profile

• University degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in real-time and/or embedded software development, including requirements, implementation and verification.
• Fluent English and Spanish.
• Eligibility for NATO/National security clearance, compliance with national and US export control regulations, and availability for occasional travel.

Required skills

• C/C++ and/or Ada, low-level software development, software requirements engineering and verification methodologies.
• Nice to have: DO-178C and EFA standards, cybersecurity and Common Criteria accreditation, SysML/UML, GPS, AdaMulti, Eclipse, VectorCAST and AdaTest95.
