Engineering Manager Data & AI

About the role

ING is looking for a Data & AI Engineering Manager in Madrid to provide strategic technical leadership for all products and services in its data ecosystem, including data platforms, data delivery processes and the AI foundations. You will lead the execution of next-generation data platforms, cloud-based big data and data governance, and work with the Innovation and AI Foundations team.

Key responsibilities

• Drive Data Driven Banking initiatives and co-create the approach with business and data owners, aligning IT strategy with new or existing products
• Deliver business outcomes while meeting technological standards, and improve reliability, scalability and performance
• Keep up with technologies that can improve systems and define IT team composition and squad organisation
• Manage end-to-end product development, defining engineering agreements with the tribe to ensure time to market and quality
• Design resilient systems, manage incidents proactively and support production through error analysis and resolution
• Contribute to technical discipline with the cross-functional technical chapter and learn from mistakes
• Ensure a skilled, motivated chapter that shares knowledge, keeps a safe and open culture, improves engineering practices and stays aligned with group standards

Required profile

• Engineering degree with at least 10 years of experience
• Proven track record and technical skills, with architectural skills
• Experience in data projects on public cloud, and strong hands-on development experience with Azure or GCP
• Leadership mindset, proactive, able to work autonomously and negotiate
• Nice to have: managerial experience in an agile organisation, cloud data migration and AI development experience
